Claudia Tejeda Crosses The Atlantic With “Favela”, Her Anormales Records Debut
The Málaga-based producer joins Kofla’s Colombian label with a two-track release built around groove, percussion and a Portuguese vocal.
Claudia Tejeda continues to expand her presence within the tech house circuit with “FAVELA”, her latest EP and first release on Anormales Records, the label headed by Colombian producer Kofla.
Out September 4, the release features two versions of the same track: Tejeda’s original production and a remix from Kofla himself. Together, they connect two scenes separated by the Atlantic but increasingly aligned in their approach to groove, percussion and the dancefloor.
Anormales has developed into a meeting point for a new generation of Latin American producers, with artists including Harvy Valencia, Irwin Romero and Alberto Dimeo appearing across its catalogue. Tejeda’s arrival now establishes a direct connection with Spain and with a producer who has spent the past few years developing her own interpretation of tech house from Málaga.
“FAVELA” starts from a deliberately stripped-back formula. A solid kick, a bassline present from the opening bars, constantly shifting percussion and a Portuguese vocal running throughout the production form its core. Rather than relying on large melodic developments, Tejeda builds tension through rhythm and subtle changes that allow the groove to evolve without losing its function on the dancefloor.
“I wanted to make a track that didn’t need explaining. Something you could put on and the dancefloor would move from the first minute. FAVELA came from that: percussion, groove and character. Everything else is unnecessary.”
Kofla takes the original into different territory on the second cut. His remix retains its central rhythmic framework while increasing the weight of the percussion and introducing elements connected to the Latin-influenced sound he has developed both through his own productions and at the helm of Anormales.
The release follows “Wild Groove”, released through Clover Records, the independent label founded and run by Tejeda herself. Through the imprint, she has developed a project that extends beyond music production, taking an active role in both the artistic direction and visual identity surrounding its releases.
That creative control reflects an increasingly defined identity. Tejeda’s sound sits firmly within percussion-driven, functional tech house, placing groove at the centre while drawing from a similar club vocabulary to artists such as Miguelle & Tons, Tony Guerra and Dennis Cruz.
Behind the decks, she has brought that approach to clubs and parties including Florida 135, Industrial Copera, elrow Málaga, elrow Tenerife and Metro Dance Club. Her productions have also picked up support from Marco Carola, Luciano, Paco Osuna, Chelina Manuhutu, Fleur Shore and Harvy Valencia.
With “FAVELA”, Claudia Tejeda adds another international connection to a project that continues to grow around a clear philosophy: fewer elements, more groove and an absolute focus on what happens on the dancefloor.
