Bae blade: kitschy, edgy, and unapologetic

Bae Blade has never been one to shy away from pushing limits. Since stepping onto the scene in 2020, the German DJ and producer has carved out a space for herself with a signature fusion of Electro, Breaks, andTechno influences. Her debut EP, Mixed Feelings, cemented her reputation as an artist unafraid to blend the hard with the playful, the nostalgic with the raw. Now, with her next EP on the horizon, she is set to take things even further.
This time around, Bae Blade is stepping into new creative territory,
“I wanted to push my creativity with this EP by recording my vocals and finding a way to seamlessly integrate them into my sound,” she shares.
While vocal sampling has been a staple of electronic music for decades, taking full control of her vocal presence marks an evolution in her artistic expression.
“It required a lot of experimentation since it was somewhat unfamiliar territory for me, but I wanted to move away from vocal sampling and express myself even more as an artist within my tracks.”
The result is a more intimate and direct connection to her audience—her voice becoming another instrument in her dynamic sonic arsenal.
One of Bae Blade’s defining characteristics is the way she balances contrasts in her music. Her work is often described as “edgy yet kitschy,” a fusion of warmth and bite that keeps listeners on their toes. This balance is something she continues to refine in her upcoming EP.
“I’m a big fan of contrasts—whether in fashion, music, or wine. I have a soft spot for pads because they give me a warm, nostalgic feeling, but at the same time, I love it when the bass hits hard. For me, this EP strikes the perfect middle ground between those elements,” she explains.
Tracks like “Fantasy” and “Insane” embody this duality.
“They exist in that gray area where you can stomp to the beat and maybe even shed a tear, or at least, that’s what I’m hoping for!”
Having already performed internationally and released on multiple labels, Bae Blade’s reputation is solid. Yet, with every new project comes the pressure to outdo herself. Rather than succumbing to external expectations, she chooses to focus on personal fulfillment.
“I want to achieve the same satisfaction as with my first EP. Sometimes, it’s hard to accept that I can’t release music quickly, but I’ve promised myself to only release when I’m truly happy with the result. For me, ‘liberating’ means being proud of my work in the end and listening to myself more.”

In a world that often demands constant output, Bae Blade is determined to keep things on her own terms.
Authenticity has been at the core of her music since the beginning. She has never been one to follow trends or adhere to rigid genre expectations. This latest EP continues that approach.
“I follow my gut and create what truly feels right to me rather than chasing trends—that’s the essence of this EP. In particular, my track ‘Whatchu Know About That’ captures this philosophy perfectly.”
It’s not just about sonic experimentation; it’s also about ownership.
“The fact that everything on the EP is made by me makes me proud. It not only stands as a testament to my authenticity but also pushes me to deepen my production knowledge further.”
A crucial part of the process is finding the right label to release her work. While her debut EP found a home on Mutual Pleasure Records, she is exploring new possibilities this time around.
“I'm looking for a label that is open to my music and whose releases I genuinely enjoy. Right now, I'm already in talks, and if everything works out the way I imagine, a small dream will come true!” she reveals, hinting at exciting prospects ahead.
Bae Blade’s journey has been shaped by more than just the music industry—it has also been influenced by her environment. Moving to Berlin, often regarded as an electronic music mecca, has been a pivotal experience. However, she notes that the city itself hasn’t drastically changed her sound.
“Not really; my sound has only evolved but not changed. What influences me are life circumstances, people, relationships, emotions, and moods.”
While Berlin may be an epicenter for high-energy club culture, it is life’s nuances that shape her music the most.
That being said, adjusting to Berlin’s underground scene has been a unique challenge. Her residency on Rinse.fm in London was a major milestone, but living in Berlin has been an entirely different beast.
“Due to knowing Berlin's scene from various shows before moving here, it was still a different beast to navigate since the residency is a purely digital one. Moving here has affected my personal and professional life daily, rather than just once a month when my show is due. It's almost impossible to be completely settled in a new city like this within just a year, so it still takes time, and there's something new to explore every day.”
Berlin’s club culture is relentless, a non-stop force of energy that can be both inspiring and exhausting. For an artist who thrives on high-energy music, maintaining balance is crucial. Bae Blade has found her own ways to navigate the chaos.
“Wellness, watching Real Housewives, and eating at Berlin-Wedding Çiğ Köfte.”
These small rituals keep her grounded amid the city’s non-stop nightlife.
Despite her international presence, choosing Berlin as a home base came with its own set of surprises.
“The year before, I played regularly in Berlin, so I was there most of the time anyway, and I love the cultural offerings. Nightlife-wise, nothing is shocking, but tbh, Berlin has a terrible cheese selection so far—and trust me, I’ve looked around and tried a lot.”
While Berlin might be known for its clubs and underground music scene, it seems the search for good cheese is a different kind of challenge.
Now, after a full year in the city, the question remains: is Berlin her final destination, or just a stepping stone?
“I haven’t fully arrived here yet. Even after a year, it still takes time, especially when you're away on weekends playing elsewhere. I can't see myself staying forever, but maybe I’ll stick around and find a warm place somewhere else. That would be nice, haha!”
The future remains open, and for Bae Blade, that’s exactly where she wants to be—on the edge of possibility, ready to evolve yet again.
Her upcoming EP is not just another release, it shows her growth as an artist and a person. By incorporating her own vocals, deepening her production knowledge, and staying true to her instincts, she continues to carve her own path in electronic music. Whether in Berlin, on tour, or wherever life takes her next, one thing is certain: Bae Blade’s journey is far from over.
